Congratulations to Jonathon Bernardi in Noah Butler's lab on receiving the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship for his project, "Metabolic regulation of anti-malarial humoral immunity."
Humoral immune responses involve the production of neutralizing antibodies and are necessary to provide protection from a variety of microbial infections. The goal of this project is to define how the anti-malarial B cell responses are regulated by the availability of specific cellular metabolites. These studies will provide critical new understanding of how B cell metabolism influences anti-malarial immunity and reveal pathways that can potentially be targeted therapeutically to support humoral immune responses and protection from infection.
