On Wednesday, February 4, students gathered at the Eckstein Medical Research Building for the career session “What Can I Do with a Microbiology Degree?” The event featured Alicia Joens, a career coach from the Pomerantz Career Center, who led an engaging discussion on career possibilities for microbiology majors.
The session highlighted the wide range of paths available to students with microbiology training, including roles in food safety, public health, research, biotechnology, and industry. Participants asked questions, shared interests, and gained practical insight into how their skills translate beyond the classroom and lab.
Hosted and organized by Bren Linley, senior academic advisor for Microbiology, the event offered both career clarity and community—along with pizza—making it a well-attended and informative hour for students thinking about what comes next.
