Research Focus:
My current interests in microbiology center around host nutritional immunity and its effects on bacterial pathogenesis. My previous projects focused on host persistence of E. faecalis in the GI tract of H. zea, and resulting physiology. I decided to pursue graduate school because once I discovered the research field, I realized how much of impact it can make on people's lives. I also loved that I was able to apply what I was learning in classes to what I was doing in the lab, and it helped me learn so much more about human health. I am hoping that in graduate school, my work can contribute to the growing knowledge about the relationship between pathogens and their hosts.
